Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
★★★★★
Four days of challenging hiking rewarded with one of the most spectacular views on Earth. Day 2 over Dead Woman's Pass at 13,800 feet nearly broke me, but the porters and guides were incredibly supportive. Arriving at the Sun Gate at dawn and seeing Machu Picchu emerge from the mist was genuinely life-changing. Book months in advance — permits sell out.

Dead Woman's Pass is no joke. Worth every step though.
